We will have only one secretary that will deal with attendance. Our plan is for her to run a daily report to see if any students skipped a class. She will check her findings with the sign-out log and give me a report. She is also going to give me a weekly report every Monday morning. I will then evaluate the report and discuss any issues with the SRO. When we have students with too many absences we will contact them and possibly make a home visit or just go get them from their home.
This is really just a basic overview but I think that through constant monitoring and quick reaction time we will be able to make a significant improvement.
I think that you are so right in saying that constant monitoring and quick reaction time will really help with attendance issues. I know that the students will constantly talk to each other and since they know that you all are bring proactive and diligent about them not being at school that they will be less likely to miss class. This will make a huge difference on your campus. Keep up the awesome work!
ReplyDeleteI just enrolled my niece on HS today and they requested me an e-mail. When I asked about if it is a problem use my school(same district) or if they prefer my personal e-mail, they told me that I will be notify in case of tardy or absence. I think this is very good strategy and make me feel comfortable that they care and as parent or guardian, we can make an immediate action to dismissals.
